[Children and Youth Affairs] We are a community based nursery in a disadvantaged area and rely on CE participants engaged in childcare training to staff the nursery. The new Pre school regulation re mandatory FETAC level 5 qualification for adults who work directly with the children will have a disastrous impact on our nursery. We rely on CE participants to make up the adult child ratios and if we no longer can count them in we need to employ fully qualified staff to comply with this new regula

[Employment] Amendment to Pre School Regulations: With effect from Sept. 2016 it will be mandatory for those working directly with pre school children to have their full FETAC Level 5 childcare qualification. Anybody who does not have their full qualification will not be allowed to be included in the adult child ratios. We operate a Community Employment Project and the majority of the participants are engaged in childcare training for their full qualification.
