Editorial Disclaimer

Overwatch Report publishes independent analysis, investigation, and commentary on current affairs. All content represents the opinions and analysis of the author unless otherwise stated.

Accuracy

We strive for accuracy in all our reporting. Where errors are identified, we will issue corrections promptly and transparently. If you believe any content contains an error, please contact us.

Opinion vs. Fact

Articles published under the Commentary and Analysis categories represent the informed opinion of the author, based on available evidence and research. These are clearly distinguished from investigative reporting.

Independence

Overwatch Report is independently owned and operated. We are not affiliated with any political party, government, corporation, or interest group. Our editorial decisions are made independently of any commercial relationships.

Sources

We endeavour to cite sources where possible. Where sources are kept confidential, this is to protect the safety or privacy of individuals who have provided information in good faith.

Public Data and Parliamentary Records

Our Accountability and Europe sections present publicly available data sourced from official parliamentary APIs and open data portals. This includes:

  • Oireachtas data — TD profiles, Dáil division records, and legislative activity from the Oireachtas Open Data API
  • European Parliament data — MEP profiles, plenary roll-call votes, legislative procedures, and committee information from the EP Open Data Portal
  • EU institutional calendars — plenary sessions, council meetings, and scheduled events from official EU sources

This data is reproduced faithfully from official public sources. While we present it in an accessible format, we do not alter voting records or official positions. Any errors in source data are beyond our control — if you spot a discrepancy, please contact us.

TD property declarations are sourced from the Register of Members' Interests published under the Ethics in Public Office Act 1995. We verify this data against the official register and record the date of last verification.

Privacy Rights Registry

The Privacy Rights Registry is an educational civic prototype. It demonstrates what government-backed privacy infrastructure could look like. Rights declared on the registry are not legally binding on any organisation. Your existing GDPR rights (access, erasure, objection under Articles 15–21) apply independently of this registry. The registry does not create, modify, or extend any legal rights or obligations.
