The Local Enterprise Offices who administer the scheme have advised that they do not have funds to approve any more vouchers to support businesses.

We know that while the Government have to date released a wide range of measures and supports, there is still more that needs to be done to ensure that we retain and return people to employment. To date many of the supports have been in the form of loans and grants; however improved liquidity support measures are necessary to ensure the recovery continues.

[Development and Zoning] Discussion on the revitalisation of town centres and how we need to work to move this forward. It is vital that we look at ways and means to encourage more people to return to living in the town centres where we have considerable cavant property. It may be necessary to incentivist people to live in towns, likewise there may be a need for incentives towards returning vacant premises to conditions suitable for living in.

It is even more important now during the pandemic and as businesses return to operating, it is vital that customers, locals and visitors feel confident in how the public realm is maintained and presented through this crisis.

[Development and Zoning] The barrow towpath development is a missed opportunity for Carlow. It is being developed in other areas however Carlow is missing out. As a county we need to enhance our offering for tourism, recreation, advancement and we shoudl relook at this development along with other potential opportunities for the county. There are plans to link New Ross to St Mullins and adding the barrow blueway to that, would open a green route from Dungarvan through to outside Dublin.

Tried to access testing or support from HSE, Contact Tracing etc but were told that they were not on the list. Locally message was that team member at restaurant tested positive

[Economic Development and Industry] The Gov announced restrictions on the counties of Kildare, Laois and Offaly that impacted on businesses and communities in various ways. The boundary between Carlow and Laois, running through Graigcullen impacts busienss with some like the Talbot Hotel Carlow being required to close due to the fact that it is just over the boundary line and pays rates to Laois, despite its main economic area being the greater Carlow area.
